Shirmad Bhagwat Geeta Chapter 1- Verses 5-6-7-8-9

धृष्टकेतुश्चेकितानः काशिराजश्च वीर्यवान्।

पुरुजित्कुन्तिभोजश्च शैब्यश्च नरपुंगवः।।5।।

धृष्टकेतु और चेकितान तथा बलवान काशिराज, पुरुजित, कुन्तिभोज और मनुष्यों में श्रेष्ठ शैब्य, पराक्रमी | (5)

 युधामन्युश्च विक्रान्त उत्तमौजाश्च वीर्यवान्।

Meaning- With them strong & well known people like Dhristketu, Chekitaan, Kashiraaj, Purujit, Kuntibhoj and Shaibyaare also their.

 सौभद्रो द्रौपदेयाश्च सर्व एव महारथाः।।6।।

युधामन्यु तथा बलवान उत्तमौजा, सुभद्रापुत्र अभिमन्यु और द्रौपदी के पाँचों पुत्र ये सभी महारथी हैं। (6)

Meaning-  Courageous Yudhamanyu, extremely powerful Uttmouja, experts Son of Subhadra as well as son of Draupadi were available their.

अस्माकं तु विशिष्टा ये तान्निबोध द्विजोत्तम।

नायका मम सैन्यस्य संज्ञार्थं तान्ब्रवीमि ते।।7।।

हे ब्राह्मणश्रेष्ठ ! अपने पक्ष में भी जो प्रधान हैं, उनको आप समझ लीजिए। आपकी जानकारी के लिए मेरी सेना के जो-जो सेनापति हूँ, उनको बतलाता हूँ।

Meaning- Duryodhana is telling to his teacher that, who so ever good leaders are their in our army in am tell about them to you.

भवान्भीष्मश्च कर्णश्च कृपश्च समितिंजयः।

अश्वत्थामा विकर्णश्च सौमदत्तिस्तथैव च।।8।।

आप, द्रोणाचार्य और पितामह भीष्म तथा कर्ण और संग्रामविजयी कृपाचार्य तथा वैसे ही अश्वत्थामा, विकर्ण और सोमदत्त का पुत्र भूरिश्रवा। (8)

Meaning- You (respectfully) Dronacharya as well as Great father Bhishma, Karna, war winning Kripacharya, Ashwathama, Vikarna and Somdatt's son Bhurishrva.

अन्ये च बहवः शूरा मदर्थे त्यक्तजीविताः।

नानाशस्त्रप्रहरणाः सर्वे युद्धविशारदाः।।9।।

और भी मेरे लिए जीवन की आशा त्याग देने वाले बहुत से शूरवीर अनेक प्रकार के अस्त्रों-शस्त्रों से सुसज्जित और सब के सब युद्ध में चतुर हैं। (9)

Meaning- And many more courageous army people are their who may never think about their own life for me and they have good knowledge of weapons and strategies.

Points to be learned from Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta Chapter 1 verses 5-6-7-8-9

1. Analyze your strength, as Duryodhana is doing by self analyzing the strengths of his own army.
2. Knowing well about enemies strengths and weakness before coming into competition
3. Always think positive about people working with you, as done by Duryodhan when he said in verses 9th that every one in my army is their to help me and ready to give their life for me.
4. Karna was the son of Lord Sun, he was gifted with gold earnings and shield by his father, and was blessed that, no one would ever defeat Karna till he owns that gold earnings and shield.
5. After analyzing his army, Duryodhan was getting more confident in war, that he is more powerful and blessed.

दृष्टवा तु पाण्डवानीकं व्यूढं दुर्योधनस्तदा।

आचार्यमुपसंगम्य राजा वचनमब्रवीत्।।2।।

संजय बोलेः उस समय राजा दुर्योधन ने व्यूहरचनायुक्त पाण्डवों की सेना को देखकर और द्रोणाचार्य के पास जाकर यह वचन कहाः (2)

English Meaning of Verses 2

Sanjay said: After watching war strategy of Pandava's Duryodhan went to his teacher Dronacharaya and says.

Point to be Learned from Bhagwat Geeta Verses 2

1. Duryodhan knows well that Pandava's are very good in making war strategies.

2. He went to his and Pandava's teacher named Dronacharya to know something about their strategy in war.

3. Duryodhana's mind got disturbed after watching his enemies position in war.

4. He want some consultation for his own strategy and their enemies strategy, i.e. why he went to his teacher for that purpose.
5. Knowledge is strength, Duryodhan knows well that Pandava's were excellent in knowledge about war as comparison to him, as they all studied together since childhood.

पश्यैतां पाण्डुपुत्राणामाचार्यं महतीं चमूम्।

व्यूढां द्रुपदपुत्रेण तव शिष्येण धीमता।।3।।

हे आचार्य ! आपके बुद्धिमान शिष्य द्रुपदपुत्र धृष्टद्युम्न के द्वारा व्यूहाकार खड़ी की हुई पाण्डुपुत्रों की इस बड़ी भारी सेना को देखिये।(3)

English Meaning of Verses 3

 Duryodhan said to his teacher please see the big war army of Pandava's.

1. Duryodhan got disturbed after watching the spirit of Pandava's.

2. He was self analyzing the result of the war when such a good armed force standing in front of him for war.
3. Arjuna was the favorite student of Dronacharya, and all strategies to Arjuna was taught by him only , i.e. why Duryodhana was getting disturbed because he know that Arjuna's army is more powerful and knows better war tactics.
4. Mahabharat war was full of tactics and politics.
5. When someone is fighting for false possession, he may always see himself weak in front of truth.

अत्र शूरा महेष्वासा भीमार्जुनसमा युधि।

युयुधानो विराटश्च द्रुपदश्च महारथः।।4।।

इस सेना में बड़े-बड़े धनुषों वाले तथा युद्ध में भीम और अर्जुन के समान शूरवीर सात्यकि और विराट तथा महारथी राजा द्रुपद | (4)

English meaning of verses 4

That army is having good weaponized, powerful, strong, courageous and specialized in war,  people like  Bheem and Arjuna.

1. Duryodhan was getting dominated after seeing the army of his own cousin brothers.

2. All Pandava's were specialized in different fields.

3.Aura of Pandava's were making Duryodhana's army of Kaurava's i.e. of 100 people looks weak and strength-less.
4. Concentration and sub-conscious mind of Duryodhan was filled with the strength of his competitors army since the beginning of the war.
5. Rather than concentrating on his own strategies and strengths he is looking his enemies qualities and strengths, which was making his own mind set weak before the commencement of the war.
